A Dark History explores the darkest days in Dundee’s past, starting on the Perth Road with a story of riots and revolutions, ending with the tale of the bloodiest days ever seen in the city, at the Overgate. Here’s what our past guests said about A Dark History:

In Dead Centre we unearth the hidden secrets of the historic Howff cemetery as we lock you in for a one-hour walking tour. Prepare for gruesome executions, clandestine body snatchers, and chilling tales of death, disease, and the downright creepy. Traverse centuries-old graves, mass burials, and encounter some of the infamous figures laid to rest here.
The walk contains some graphic descriptions (we recommend age 12+) and is suitable for most walking abilities, with no stairs and minimal walking between points.

Recommended age: 10+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult)
Tour start: Outside Duncan of Jordanstone College, Perth Road at 6 pm
Tour end: Howff Cemetery
Tour length: Approx 1 hr 45 min
Accessibility: There is a set of stairs at the start of the tour, these can be omitted and are not part of the route but to see something. The route walks down Perth Road and Nethergate at a gentle pace, for any accessibility concerns please get in touch.
